About Carol Adolph
It's just before noon on a sizzling June day in the desert. Interior Decorator Carol Adolph is checking the progress of a home she is working on at the Hideaway, an exclusive private golf community in La Quinta. The hundred degree-plus heat doesn't seem to bother her. She's in the driveway, laughing and chatting away on her cell phone to the homeowner in Chicago, giving him a detailed progress report on his vacation home, coordinating deliveries and the work of subcontractors, and helping the client make key design decisions. All in a day's work for this award-winning designer.
This snapshot is the essence of what working with Carol Adolph of Duende Design is about. The word duende refers to a special magnetism, charm and charisma. And that's exactly the energy and spirit Carol brings to her work. Years of design expertise, coupled with her inherent sense of humor and practical sensibilities, produce results for satisfied customers.
Before entering the design industry 25 years ago, Carol honed her organizational skills as an administrator managing a top Boston law firm. After years of the corporate world, she was ready for something creative. Two of her strongest assests - her attention to detail and impeccable follow-through - contributed to her success as she transitioned into working with a national home furnishings and accessories firm, where she was a sales leader. Then, in 1986, she decided to strike out on her own, establishing a successful interior design business that served clients in the greator Boston area for more than 15 years. During that time, her firm garnered the Best of Show award several years in a row at the New England Home Show. And, she was selected to participate for four years in the prestigious "Designer on Call" program at the Boston Design Center.
Seeking more year-round access to golf, Carol and her husband George, a retired international executive, relocated to the Desert in 2000. Her talent and refreshingly attitude-free approach to interior design quickly won her a new west coast following; her work here includes projects at Bighorn Golf Club, Tradition Golf Club, Andalusia Golf Club, The Citrus, The Hideaway, Desert Horizons, Rancho La Quinta Country Club and many more.
Carol's clients on both coasts agree that working with her is "just plain fun." Simply put, she makes the entire experience of decorating a home as easy, economical and enjoyable as possible. Flexible fee structure that delivers value
My objective is to present you with a fee arrangement that is simple, upfront and straightforward. As compensation for my TIME & EXPERTISE, either one of two fee agreement options have stood the test of time with my clients...
1) A design fee plus a percentage on products purchased at designer cost.
2) A flat design fee based on the scope of the project. In this arrangement my client knows the budget and timeframe for the project. Everything is spelled out in a Letter of Agreement. The billing of furnishings selected with Duende Design is billed at my designer cost and not a penny more.
You can be as involved as you want to be.
Some of my clients want to be involved in every design decision, right down to the pillow tassels. Others prefer to hand off the details once the big picture has been agreed upon, especially if their desert home isn't their full-time residence. I welcome your involvement at whatever level you're comfortable with. You can join me on every shopping expedition, or you can hand me the keys, leave for the summer and return to find your home ready for the season. I'll even send you photos to document the progress while you're away.
